First Settlements

When most of our guests arrive in İstanbul, they are met with a cosmopolitan metropolis, though distinctively Turkish culture – usually experiencing some level of surprise as their expectations of Türkiye are not entirely met; however, upon arrival to Şanlıurfa and neighboring provinces, their Middle Eastern expectations are met and exceeded. Recent excavations and discoveries have provided strong arguments that Şanlıurfa is home to mankind’s first settlements – where hunter-gatherers first formed a community, later resulting in the beginning of agriculture and further development. Still a mystery, it seems likely that the reason for the development of these sites was for the purpose of establishing and maintaining a ceremonial or religious function – thus requiring an agricultural system and further developments in civilization. This tour is ideal for various add-ons such as Harran, Mount Nemrut, Rumkale – a Byzantine fortress built beside the Euphrates where you can enjoy a refreshing swim, and many more – just ask us!
